The fastest I ever drove was in Germany about 220km/h in a Volvo station wagon, wouldn't go any faster. I also drove a Toyota Azenis at about 210km/h, also the max for the car.

230KPH on Highway 404 north of Toronto, in an E32 740iL.
It was significantly less nervewracking than the new Mini I had floored all the way from Naples to Milan. That thing topped out at 200KPH. My buddy and I were stopping for fuel every 45 minutes.
I've also had my 1986 Toyota Celica GT-S up to 200KPH on some rough contry sideroads. That's as fast as it would go.
In my current BMW, I haven't yet exceeded 170KPH.

Several years ago I did about 220k on the autobahn in an opel vectra. It was a brand new rental car. 220k was pushing the little motor. My most recent record has been 200k, that was today, on A3 close to Wurzburg.
I really dont want to push my 1989 faster than that.

years ago in my modified jetta VR6, 233klm/h (145mph) on a major highway in Montreal with NO traffic at 2am.
I actually hit a bat and it got stuck in the grill/headlight of the jetta!!! at that speed, poor little bat had no chance!
and then about the same in my 540.
I have no fear under 200k in a german car, (120mph) with good tires.
My 330 has not yet hit 180, as I have slowed down throwing my life into the wind!
As some of you know, there is a huge differencce between above 100 mph, and below. Above, everything changes and the laws of physics work very hard against you!
Drive safe, or your luck will eventually run out.

Actually, my friend has a super modded 944 turbo, he owns RMR Autosport here in Montreal
http://www.rmr.ca/index.html
It is a huge player in VW, Honda, Subaru..... a little BMW!
Anyways, at a GM test track oval here, we got it up to 275klm on the straight! (170mph)
It has a huge turbo and is by far the nicest 944 turbo ever! (because most of them suck! ;))
He has recently added a new 911 to his stable as well.

276 on my cbr
Germany, higway to Kohln, Lamborgini Diablo Annyversaire edition, 315 km/h two months ago at midhight. Never again. The owner of the car drove back himself and hit 330 on the counter, never been so scared in my life, he got his license only 3 months ago.

252km/h according to the speedo in my e34, on a nearly empty highway in the middle of the night. It had a bit more left in it, but I'm not sure how much the speedo lies because of the 17" tires. I actually had my GPS with me, but forgot to use it. :( Anyway, the car was surprisingly stable at that speed, but I'm not gonna try it again.

This was estimated. However, it was a 1970 mustang fastback with the very underated 351 cleveland engine with boss 302 heads and 750 Holley and a 3.00 traction lock differential and competition suspension and trans-am front air dam . I was crazy to do it on an interstate at night. I sure loved that car. Had to go for my first BMW!

For a few seconds the telemetry gave me a peak of 172mph (about 276kph) on banked track of MIRA test circuit (England) 21st July 2005 in my 288, but looking for more next summer (gotta remember my nerve pills too maybe).
Average speed for the 2.82 mile circuit was only 149.41 mph though, and nowhere near the record.

140 in a 1871 corvette convertible. I was 16 and my dad's drunk freind asked me if I wanted to drive it. He came with us , my girfriend was stuffed in the middle. We got to a stop sign on a back raod and he said floor it. I'll tell you when to start braking. Front end got very floaty , scary feeling. Man was my dad pissed. Only done about 120 in the 540 and once did about the same on the autobahn in a rented Audi 80 on the way from Mannheim to Mainz. That's all the little audi could do. I definetly learned to stay out of the left lane if all you can do is 120.

I used to sell exotics so I've done a lot of speeding. Among the cars I've driven are:
Murcielago
Gallardo
360 Spyder F1
Countach 5000
Derek Warwick's Jaguar LeMans car from 1992 (single seat monster)
a number of 911 Turbos including:
X50
Stage 3 Evolution (540HP)
GT3
GT2
BMW M5 2003 which is my fav
1981 BMW M1
Continental GT
and too many MB to list
The Murcielago is the fastest thing in production and I've taken it near its limits on a public road... amazing G forces and acceleration but even more amazing handling
Is there life after selling exotics? What are you doing now? And what are you driving now?

my truck'll do 90-95 with the stock governer springs and the 4.10 rear end, it gets up to 2900 pretty quick even in 5th and hits the wall, in time ill swap out the governer springs in the pump for the 3k kit that should let it hit 3200 before it defuels and make it more fun in town, not so much to see how fast a 7000-7500# barn door will go. been real close to 140 indicated in both bimmers, with speed rated rubber i wouldn't mind squeezing the e30 and seeing what it can do, should run outta gear a little over 150

I wish is was Bigkriss...the stock boost gauges on the 944 T's measure absolute pressure so 1 bar is atmospheric, 2 bar is 14.5psi. The gauge is pretty much pegged, actual boost was probably somewhere around 18psi on that ride.

Slightly over 150 in my 525 on I90 (mass pike), also got pulled over in my Blue Panzer last week doing 110, still can not believe my luck. The cop got a call on the radio and let me go. Also closed the spedo on a Nissan Altima, Ford Porbe, Toyota T100, Subaru Impreza, and took a Dodge Stratus to a point where it won’t go anymore faster. Overheated engine on Mitsu Mirage, exept for the loud noise you won’t get much out from1.6L I also got pulled over in my bros Toyota Rav4, the cop could not believe I managed it to get to a speed which I was going. Luckily he took it easy on me, (only $100 to pay, the cop was in a really good mood and at the end of his shift).

1984 Mustang SVO - 145mph (redlined) (I was 17 year old)
1976 911S - 155mph (redlined) (I was 27 year old)
2001 Ninja ZX12R - 170mph (still had room to go) (I was 34 years old)
1990 535iA - 130mph (room - old car didn't want to push too hard) (I was 35 years old)
I hope this doesn't mean I am slowing down in my older age.

Dang, 330 Kph is 206 mph! Thats very fast!. I have read 5 runs of the Porsche Carerra GT doing between 205 to 209 mph in the autobahn. Need near perfectly straight roads that are completely clear of cars and good visibility, cos one small mistake and its game over period!. Nothing bigger than 2 feet will remain!. Its that dangerous!
Previously, I read a Koenigsegg CCR doing 365Kph in Belgium, thats 228 mph. Insanely fast, by a hotshot professional driver.
emw525E34

Your 252kph shown was probably actual around 245 Kph which is 153mph. About right for your car. Thats darn fast!. Yeah the stability is a little misleading as we can get used to it but the tires cannot last for long due to heat build up.

Highest speed? Flat out in an E28 535i- off the clock (with skis on the roof racks). I guess that makes 240kmh (150mph). Before that 220 (downhill) in an E30 316 in Germany, great cars both of 'em, and off the clock in 2 other cars.
Would like to try in my e34 (on a track) one day once its 'progressed' a bit more. Its a much safer and better balanced car to push the limits in.
Its a good experience for all drivers, to know the difference between real speed, normal speeds and traffic speeds. After driving in Germany I realised one needs to be very careful driving like that... :) Its not really possible here in Oz (except some outback roads (most are dirt :(),
I never break the law here, ever. Blue Heelers can lock u up for no reason, 90 days for acting suspiciously, and now indefinately for sedition (speaking ill of the King, PM or Government with a view to inciting action on behalf of others (best never let a nark from the government take what you say the wrong way).

Acutally, on of my mate's dad used to boost the old Nissan Altima (SR20 DET) to 30 PSI, Thats 2.17 bars, claims to push 36 PSI (2.44 bars!!!) at one stage but would not dare push it any higher. About 120 in an early 1985 IROC Z, brand new, it was my demo. 2 AM on the Washington Beltway. We estimated, as the speedo was only rated to 85.
What a car, black with dark red grahpics and red recaros and t-tops. Stickered in the mid 20's. I ordered it with every option available. Unfortunately shortly after someone came in and bought the car so I only had it for about 2000 miles. :(

944 Turbo, you will not be dissapointed. I ran a Garret T04E hybrid turbo on mine with aftermarket engine management, used to make close 400hp with water injection / 22 psi. Very fast and mostly durable apart from driveshafts.
Yes, my 3.5L GT30 turbo bimmer makes about 700 hp at 20psi. I cant go any higher becuase the 770cc injectors are maxed out at 20 psi. Its run 30psi on bigger injectors and according to the previous owner and some guys that saw it run, it would smoke the tires in 3rd. Its a crazy motor. Its eaten a few diffs but the tranny has held up pretty well.

140mph in a 1978 Datsun 280Z, 2+2. A long, straight, deserted road south of Las Vegas, NV in 1983. Great cars, but the front end floats at 140. Depress clutch. Hold on tight and straight. Pray.

I've had my brothers Nissian Skyline GTS-T doing 245 KM. according to the Tacho. The Speedometer was well and truely off the clock. This was on the motorway between Newcastle And Sydney. The car was surprisingly stable.
Speed limiter disconnected.
Well not surprising really. It had very good spoilers.
That same trip we went from snowny mountians back to the Gold Coast in 11 hours, including stops. 300km per tank of fuel. We were only getting around 9 Miles to the Gallon from memory. This was on the New England highway. Sitting on the Speed limiter 180km per hour. We got a lot of comments from the truck drivers needless to say. UHF radio on board is very good as a radar detector.
I had to do an emergency stop at one stage at that speed. The car performed very well. A very high performance car for only 20 grand.

Late 90's, on route 176 in Pennsylvania, between Morgantown and Reading, late at night, with noone else on the roads- 141MPH in a 1990 Plymouth Laser RS Turbo intercooled. The car felt like it could just keep steadily accelerating. Then, at 141, it just flat out stopped accelerating, like it hit some kind of governor.Checked all the suspension first, tires, torqued the wheels...never did that again, but man was that fun!

120 mph route 91 New York - Vermont. drove that fast for about 3 hours - no troopers followed.

I did 220km/h in Deutschland on the road to Frankfurt a while back with a rented Benz c230 cdi 6sp. (that's a turbodiesel for those who don't know) with 4 people in the car and all of our luggage.
I've gotten my e34 m60b30 going about 135mph on hwy 61 north of winona, mn. I didn't want to push too hard on a car with 189k mi on it.
140mph 1978 Honda 750F I-405 Orange County CA

140 mph, Porsche 911 (996 I believe--last version of the air cooled). Part of a great afternoon with a friend who bought the car. Flew to Phoenix and returned from Phoenix to San Diego in 4 hours flat, including stopping in Gila Bend for hamburgers. I don't think we ever were under 100 mph.

993 was last aircooled. 996 was the first watercooled, and the 997 is the current version
I have a couple as well:
140mph in a 1991 taurus sho on I-95 at 3am
130ish in a 1993 mitsubishi diamante very scary at that speed!
145mph in a 1990 infiniti q45 racing an e36 m3, I have a feeling he was playing with me because we were neck-and-neck from 75-145mph.
Oh and I have yet to take the 535im over 100mph, need to fix a little shake first.

In a wild and mis-spent youth I had a modded turbo suby that I slightly exceeded the posted limit and it lost a lot of power. When we checked it out, an errant bird had impaled itself in the intercooler and it's beak punctured the cooler. Think I may have hit a bit over 55.

I raced a guy in my 85' 325i from Denver to Fort Collins. This is the highway between the Boulder turn off and before you get to Longmont. The other car was a Suburu Turbo something, the car that had a split windshield. His car was faster than my beemer. I got to 135-137 mph but couldn't catch him, he was ahead a little, maybe 50 yards. I still had peddle meaning I could of gone faster, but lost my nerve and slowed down. He was just as nervous as I was and backed off immediately too. I lost that one. The car changed its handling characteristics at this speed. The steering got extremely tight and my vision become tunnel. Thank God the road was fairly straight ahead with not much turning, just staight ahead and hold on and that little car got up that that speed and still could of gone faster. I now drive a 540i but have never, never driven it that fast. Maybe 110 and in retrospect, its a wonder I'm not in jail or dead. Racing is so s t u p i d. (But what a thrill and an excellent question.)

I raced a Suburu Turbo (the split window car) and he was the quicker. I lost my nerve at 135 mph. (I'm not sure but think the car could of gone faster) Insane thing but I'll remember it for life. This happened between Longmont and Fort Collins in Colorado, a fairly straight flat low traffic area. Excellent Question! Oh yeah, I was driving a 1985 325i 4 door. Sure miss that car!

**officially.
Unofficially?
estimated 135 (from revs and gearing; no speedo) on the front straight at Roebling Road in a Formula Ford (w/helmet, firesuit, neck collar during a SCCA Solo I)
~125 in a 550i (no side roads, no other traffic in front, near, or behind, or merging, on a divided 4-lane highway with a large grassy median)
~115 in the E30 on a deserted straight near our nuke plant
~120 in each of 2 1st gen RX7s across a nearby lake dam (approx. 2 mile divided 4-lane highway with a large grassy median straight, no side roads, no other traffic)
Of course, this was all in my much-younger days. The 550i did not occur within the recent past. ;)

My manual says 235 km/h for the manual transmission and 231 km/h for the auto. So even though I saw 252 indicated speed, 235 km/h is probably quite close to the truth in actual speed. The car has been chipped tho, which does raise the revlimit a bit, some chip manufacturers do claim a small increase in top speed. Anyway, that doesn't really matter, I've only taken the car there once and I don't intend to do it again.

230 kilometers per hour wirh my current E34 525i Touring 5-speed manual.

I see that some of our definitions of FAST are different.
fastest i've ever been on 2 wheels was 186mph on my gsxr
fastest ive ridden in a car was 212mph in a crazy ass blown ****er.
fastest i've driven a car was about 175 in a firehawk.
fastest i've had the 535i was 140 but it seemed pretty stable.
i hit 100 every day but then again i live out in the boonies.
no cops no traffic just long straight flat roads.
In 1956 I drove my 1955 Thunderbird to the limit of 5000 RPM which correlated to 150Mph. The speedometer was pegged at over 150.
Now the stupid part.
I did this crossing the Mojave Desert, temp was 110F and I was riding on recaps.
I am soooo lucky I can't believe it
