View Full Version : m5 brakes
found some m5 brakes at a junkyard near me and the guy doesn't know that they are m5 because the car is a 525 . he'll probably sell them to me realy cheap. i whould be intrested how much whould a complete break set of an m5 whould cost me elsewhere to figure out if i make a good deal. i don't really need them because i ain't going too fast with 130 hp and 1,5 tons of steel but they whould be nice ...
thanks

What part of the brakes did you find, exactly? Just the calipers?
How do you know they're M5 brakes if they're from a 525? ;)
I don't know all the ins and outs of the M5 braking system, but I'm pretty sure the calipers are not the only unique component. You may also need new lines, a new resevoir, master cylinder, etc.
Someone around here will know for sure. Sit tight. :)

All you need to upgrade to M5 front brakes are the calipers, carriers, and rotors. No need to upgrade the MC, lines or anything else. The M5 calipers should have "315" stamped into them. If memory serves, I sold the calipers from my 540i Sport parts car (same as M5) for $300 a few years ago.Drew Zacharda6-speed Touringhttp://members.aol.com/apzjd/16RKsummersmall.jpg (http://www.bmwe34.net/ASP/DURegistry/RegDetail.asp?id=100)
