Just found this on the web. I do not need it, but maybe the boyz in Calgary?

I think it is best in areas where one not always needs chains but just on certain days or areas.

Wow, never seen the likes.

It looks like the diff is puking a spider. Other than the sheer laziness of the idea, I have my doubts as to whether it would work in any serious depth of snow. he chains would get hung up before they got under the tire (if they weren't already frozen cock stiff).

My $.02

Thanks Shogun, always entertaining us

Well, maybe useful fo trucks, but not for normal cars with expensive alloy wheels.
RUD has something good for protection of alloy wheels

Am I seeing it right? It just actuates an arm that flips a rotating chain wheel down towards the bottom of your tires?

Somehow it looks like it could go horribly wrong... but perhaps I'm not understanding it well enough.

The instachain works well, but only up to a certain depth of snow.. can't remember exactly. We've got it on our fire truck, it's a lifesaver, quite literally, as we have lots of hills in town that can get real ugly in the snow.
