Fuse #6 Blinkers

[632 Regal]

Fuse #6 Blinkers keeps blowing, sometimes it will work for weeks, then it will blow one after another. Seems as soon as I put a replacement fuse in there a relay trips (this is with the car on or off) I have thrown cars away because of electrical gremlins.

All the bulbs seem fine and it seems the fuse blows weather I use the blinker or not...

Any clues?

in trouble could cause this, and as they are not permanently energized, they can trigger any moment and blow the fuse.

Hazard/Flasher Relay
Crash Control Module
Hazard Switch lamp (Only when turned on)
Instrument cluster side turns indicators
Right and Front / Both sides turn lamps
High Beams relay in LKM (Only when crash control activates)


Crash control module also signals General Module and Anti-theft module using F6 power.

I would suspect on the Crash control module. It can be also a damaged wire insulation in any load feeders described!

Sorry, but it will be hard work or good luck to locate.

WHere is the CCM? Id like to start looking into this. (found it!)

Also my SRS light has been on for a while, thik this can lead to a problem? I originally assumed it was from a bumpy road but I can't be sure.

the blinkers?

Unfortunately, SRS is something I do not know much about as I do not have them. Have read a lot info in the board saying that removing cluster without disconnecting battery can trigger the warning and force you to go to dealer for reset. The SRS system monitors itself and light up as soon as something is wrong. Guess it does not self reset if the issue is solved. Then, if as result from a bump, a device got momentarily disconnected, you got the light and will not reset. This may explain your believe on the light origins.

...and then replace the fuse. If it blows then you know it aint the relay, it'll be one of those other things Javier mentioned. If it doesn't blow then replace the blinker relay.

its a random thing, sometimes back to back, other times it takes a month...somethings definetly going on though.

of the crash module, by bypassing the inertia switch under the rear seat (LH side). If doing so blows the fuse, then you know it is the culprit.

Operating the turn signals do not blow the fuse I guess.

Fuse is a 15 amp isn't it?

Correct Javier, the vary first time I noticed the blinkers not working (gods sake it's a BMW, we dont need blinkers :p) there were 3 blown fuses...this might now narrow down the playing field. I will look tomorrow as I know I had to use a dufferent type fuse in at least one location in addition to #6. I'll check this in the AM and see if I can figure out what other 3 blew simultanously.
