Howdy group,
I just joined so a big hello to everybody from me. :D Just joined the world of BMW recently, having bought an '03 e39 530i touring wagon. It's a big change from my Land Rover Discovery II. ;)
I live in Melbourne and am looking for recommendations of BMW specialists - doesn't matter how far away they are, I'll be willing to drive a fair distance to get good, trustworthy mechanics.
Can anyone recommend me a good workshop to take my Bimmer to for maintenance or repairs?
I've tried Autologic in East Bentleigh and am now just generally looking around to see if there are other places. Surely there must be a few out there, given the number of BMWs on the roads. I'd hate to think that all Bimmer owners simply go to the BMW dealerships to get work done on their vehicles.
But if so, then which BMW dealership is customer centric and good? :p
Thanks in advance,
Lawrance

Hi Lawrance. Although I haven't used them (I do my own maintenance) I've heard some positive reports about BMTech (http://www.bmtech.com.au/) in Canterbury.
They're an independant BMW service centre. Anyway give them a call and see what you think. - Good Luck

Hi Lawrance
try European Auto Haus in Richmond (Ph. 9429 2111) - ask for Blair. He's terrific - fair and reliable and he used to work for Stillwell's - tell him Ken from Melbourne Uni. recommended him. I have been going to him for years with no problems.
Good Luck

Go to Stillwell BMW, ask for Robert or Chris Stillwell and tell them Larry from Tucson, Arizona told you that they would take good care of you. Guaranteed they will.

There are a number of good BMW independent workshops in Melbourne - some of which have been mentioned.
The newest is Southern BM in Moorrabin.
It has been set up recently to be a customer focussed BM specialist and the two guys who own it, Andrew & Jimmy have between them many decades of experience working on BMW's.
The fact they are new means they are going way out of their way to look after customers, they know their stuff and their prices appear reasonable.
I have just had a heap of work done there on my 1990 M5. It is still there if you drop in and will be there until I can get back to Melbourne in early Jan 06 to collect it.
Say Dave the LE guy recommended you!
Cheers

JPPlenty of e34s here. use ebay.com.au to look- but most are sold through www.tradingpost.com.au and www.drive.com.au. Prices vary wildly- drive.com.au has the 2nd hand price indicators (like www.redbook.com.au). We look forward to meeting a fellow e34er when u arrive! Be sure to coem to one of our track days (one is on Feb18), its the best way to meet up.
Try asking over at www.eurocca.net There are plenty of BMW owners there that live in Melbourne.
