20.8 on the last tank of city driving. Are you guys calculating it or reading from the OBC?

well.. according to the OBC, my long term average is 17.7mpg.. but my personal average since I've had it is 13.6 !!!
That's actually worse than my Trailblazer!
I'm going to have to calculate a few tank fulls... and see what my real average works out to be.

According to OBC...
26+ on highway averaging 72mph
16 in city driving
Mostly highway driving. The 540i get the best milage of our three vehicles, the other two being a '96 Mustang GT & a '91 Cherokee 4.0L 2WD.

i do about 90 mins driving a day(work and back), 10-20 mins@60mph(well more like 90;) :D )and then town traffic which is slooow considering if i stay on late at work my home journey only takes 20mins tops!
i cant remember who said it but i wasnt complaining about mpg i was just curious thats all, if i was worried then i wouldnt be opting for forced induction in the near future:p

15-17 city driving.
7/100 -120 km/h (75 mph)
9-10 -light traffic
around 15- heavy stop and go
i guess this means:
over 40 mpg on highway
somewhere between 25-35 in city

17.5 mixed at the moment.
That's probably because the car likes the cold air so much and the throttle response feels so much snappier that I can't keep my foot off ot it.
I am usually around 19-21 mixed.

My OBC is saying 15 average MPG, but I have a really light foot, and I never fool around... Hmmm... Its an '89 525i. It's been having some starting problems(with the error"oil press sensor"), maybe its flooding or something. I'm not an expert, any ideas? PM me or reply, idc.
thx
Merry Christmas guys

I thinks thats about right Barry....sorry.The fuel consumption is my only beef with my car,I thought it would be better too.....Now i run my 235/4517 at about 40 psi i will see how that affects things,I dont expect more than maybe 0.5 liter 100km

Hi all;
Just got a 1995 530i this past Thursday 12/22.
Made the purchase after researching using this sight and some other on line reviews.
It is a 5 speed auto, alusil, Oriental blue / cream gut.
Just turned 100,000 mi. and has been very well maintained.
I really love the car and anticipate getting another 75000 or so miles out of it.
Currently I am getting about 17 mpg (by my own calculations) but I have been getting on it some.
Thanks for a great forum.
I look forward to being part of the community.
busterb.
