but only one works. I compared them side by side and they are exactly alike. One is the key with the light and one is just a standard looking key. The standard key doesnt work. Anyone know why?

define doesn't work?
doesn't work in ANYTHING (ie. ignition, trunk, doors...)
or just doesnt work in SOME parts?
I don't think there's a chip in them, but you never know...

doesnt work in the trunk, doors, ignition..
theres definatly no chip because i have opened it up and changed the incandescent bulb in the light up one to a red LED instead.
I also, have 2 keys and my owner manual said one of those just work in the door and ignition, no truck, no glove box. Good luck with yours.

Possibly you are looking at a "valet" key which allows linited access to your car, hence the name. It is also possible that there are enough operations on your regular key and ignition switch to the point that the relatively new key won't work. Apply some powdered graphite (lightly) to both sides of the plain key and fiddle with it for a while. Maybe it will begin working.
