Nice looking car Brodee. If you use the other 5 gears, you'll have more fun:D
How do you like the sport seats? I love the gathered leather door panels.
Allie? or Nikki?
Enjoy her, the performance is top notch.
Waiting for more pictures.......

Thanks guys! I'll get some better pics today. The car is a one-owner, 92k miles, 540-6. He bought it here in Houston in April '96 so it had been on the lot for a while but only had 152 miles when it went out. I have ALL receipts including the original purchase papers, windows stickers and everyrhing.
Engine was replaced at 30k by Beverly Hills BMW with the alusil block. The thing is like a time capsule, it's by far the cleanest e34 I have seen (haven't seen your's in person JR ;) ). I got 6 keys with it including the light-up key that was in a plastic bag since new and had never been used in the car. It's all stock except a Dinan chip.
I really like the sport seats, one of the reasons I wanted a 540-6. They remind me of my e30 sport seats, just bigger and powered.

How much are 540's going for? I paid 7500$ canadian (6,470 USD) 2 months ago for my 525i.
Does a 540 fetch 10k?
I'm inclined to say it's worth it. So much power!! Are those special seats? It looks like the front area (where the part behind your knees touch) is pushed forward a little. Some sort of extra adjustment?
Congrats for a very, very nice ride.

Believe it or not... they fetch lower than $10K... almost too cheap! Can you imagine buying a 540i for a mere $6000 for auto? I feel so cheap now... but like you said... AWESOME car!

What do you mean you feel so cheap, you DO own a 540 :)
Having known a bit about the e34's before my purchase I think I should have waited for a 540 auto!! Ahh well...

There're a couple of manual 535s in the Auto Trader, in Ontario. The nicer of the two has a $6500 asking price. The only 540-6 in the Ontario listings at the moment is asking $14k, but that's at a Mazda dealer. So somewhere between those two is the real price of a 540-6.
Those are the sports seats. I love them, too. Wish I had them. I think they were standard equipement on the 6-speeder and optional elsewhere as part of the "sport" package, but don't quote me. Yes, the forward part of the thigh support is adjustable.

Brodee, what's the mileage? And what's the lower left-hand column stalk? Is that the cruise control? Mine's on the right...

Thanks for the explanation, those seats look quite comfortable.
Hmm... 6500 canadian for a 535? And I thought I got a good deal with my 525 :(

I've seen decent 540/6 going for between $8-14k or so. A few more and a few less, but that's the range. M-sports, then you're into M5 money.

It has 92k miles and 62k on the alusil motor. That stalk is the power telescoping wheel, the cruise is still on the right.

Hey Kenny, did you pick up that touring you went to look at? We had a CCA banquet last night and my wife got a good look at a fellow members '03 touring. I think the e34 will be up for sale soon now since she's wanting a newer one :(

It turned out to be not too nice. :(
Send me a note and let's start talking about yours. I've been looking at the one that the guy from ocwheels has, but the price seems a little high for what it is.

I lusted after my dads 540 6 spd. when he bought it several years ago to replace the 535i stick. He always maintained his cars well, so I waited... October of 2005, he calls me from the showroom of a dealership to offer me the carafter getting their #. I'd been patiently waiting for the chance, yet not wanting to hound him for it. These cars are a treasure, not to be trifled away. This is my first bimmer, I love her more than many people I know. That probably didn't sound good, true as it is.

{sorry for the upper case, but I had a point to make!}
Very, very sweet. I also like your e34 touring, you don't see too many in the UK and they're never as nice as that. I'm quite envious!

For about 2 hours on Saturday I had the 3 34's, and 2 '89 325is's :D Friend bought the newest 325 from me and my silver one is headed to Seatle on a truck today :( Gonna miss that car, but hoping to replace it with an e30 M3.

Since you just went from stock to the 18s, what did you think Thad? I've been trying to decide what to do for wheels, I love M-Pars but don't know if I want the harshness of 18s. Could you feel a difference on the 540/6?
Love the black interior, it sets off the wood so much nicer than the tan I have.

This is the 3rd one I've gone from 15's to 18's on. The other 2 didn't bother me, the touring actually rides better with the 18's I think (so does my wife). This car seems like it's a little more harsh. The PO broke a rear spring and had them all replaced with new springs, I'm going to call the shop and see what they put on it because they definatley feel stiffer than stock, not sure if it's just the sport springs or what. Anyway that combo with the 18's is stiffer than the 525's but not bad enough that I wouldn't run 18's, in fact that's the only size wheel I'll put on this thing. I really want a set of 18" style 5's from an e38.
If I was you I'd get the M-Pars and put on some Kuhmo ASX tires. They are a great all season tire and one of the smoothest, quietest 18's you can get. That's what we put on the touring. If you want to make a trip down here sometime we can swap hers onto your car and let you try it out :D

Damn Brodee
You have the jeweler's eye when it comes to cars. Do sweet cars just find you or do you look hard to find them?
Have you ever thought of being a professional shopper? People could put in orders with you and just patiently wait til you find the cream of the bmw crop for them.

Actually my wife told me I need to do that. I would love to, just don't know how to get it all setup. I really lucked out on this car, it was even here in Houston so I didn't have to fly off to get it.

Truly stunning. Congrats once again.
I honestly don't know why anyone would spend $20k+ on a new econobox when you could have one of these.

My thoughts exactly. I saw a Lincoln dealer that had a sign saying "$10k off new Town Cars" I kept thinking, what the hell can be that much better that they can charge that much?? Of course not everyone can afford to have a car like this without a warranty. I know I couldn't if I didn't do the work myself.

The 540/6 has stiffer springs stock, so that could be part of it. It's still between M-Pars and T-Stars, too bad I'm not in the market, there's two sets of T-Stars on Ebay right now.:( Still be a month or so, I ALMOST have my wife's 4Runner paid off. Then the fun begins!:D I have to do something soon, my current wheel tire combo vibrates like crazy, but I don't want to spend any money on it because it's days are numbered.

Come visit us, you can check out my B&B Triflo. I like it, subtle but sounds nice. I'd like a bit louder though, maybe when I replace the cats.
