View Full Version : What things other than a bad O2 sensor cause poor mileage?

Hi guys,

I just realized that my 1990 525i used 20 liters of gas to go 100 kilimetres over the last couple of days. I know colder weather has an effect and it was a mix of city and highway, but I don't think it was ever so thirsty. The car has over 210,000 kilometres on it now and the oxygen sensor was changed about a year ago and the car has a recent alignment. I know that my wheel bearings are original, as is my catylitic converter and guibo/centre bearing. I run synthetics all around and I know it is time to change all of it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Mark

Hi guys,

I think we've all got a lead foot in this group. But that hasn't changed and the mileage has for some reason. Last year I changed the coolant temperature sensor. Is there another one that I didn't change yet?

Thanks,

Mark
