Just wondering what a good tint looks like on the e34, i suppose it varies with the colour of our cars, but still.

Any tint stories? satisfaction? dislikes ect

cheers

I have 35% on all 3 of mine, anything darker on the front windows is illegal and I don't like mis-matched tint.

I like them. I think a high quality tint will dress up nearly every car. Be careful about metalized on the rear window, it will mess up your radio reception.

Tint is great. Just ask around, ask about good tint jobs you see and where they got their's done. Toughest thing about e34s, and most later BMWs is the small black dots that surround the rear window called 'matrix' where the film has a difficult time adhering, and it's not actually touching the glass because of the raised up little black dots that are keeping it from touching the glass.

I've done 40% Llumar on one of my E30s, and REALLY liked it, not only does it clean the look up of the car, it does keep it a little cooler during the summer. I think any darker than 20% is just gangster, and besides being illegal(atleast in NC) is starting to obstruct some of what you see, especially when it's dark.

40% Llumar film on my mom's 540i...

15% sides, 30% rear window...sorry about reflections, I don't really have a pic of straight side on...had a friend do it for me, he used to detail, etc... make sure you use a nice metallicized mylar film...not that cheap, "purplish-looking" stuff...worth doing right.

I've got 35% on the front and 20% on the rears. It's 3M metallic film and i've no complaints about it all. I did it mainly because of the amount of sun we get up here. Interiors don't last too long otherwise. Improves the car's look too in my opinion.

whatever you do don't use that retarted mirror tint stuff. 15 or 20% would look nice on your car

Check you local laws about what is legal. He in CA the driver's door can't be too dark so the police don't have the problem of walking up to a car where someone has pulled a gun on them and they can't see it. In the states, laws regulating allowable tint vary from state to state. Hey Canadians--do you have one national standard or do you have different laws in different provinces?

Joel--your posts reminds me I want to get my 535 tinted. Our former 525 that was the same year and color was tinted and I really like the look much better. Don't know what the percent of tint on the 525 was though.

In Ontario, Canada, it's up to the discretion of the officer :|

I have 35% front, 20% everywhere else.

is this rear window situation a hard problem to get by, and will the tint damage the black lines or whatever they are.

Mine didn't...any profesional installer will remove the tray and c-pillar interior mouldings...also pull the center brake light...

A good installer will not harm your rear window when installing the tint. If you ever want to remove it, that's another story.

The previous owner of my car had a dark tint all around that was pretty scratched and peeling in places, so I removed it all. IMHO the dark tint on my black car took away from the lines of the car, making it look like a big black blob. It's much better now.

At some time in the future I may consider putting back a very light tint.

see my sig, i've got a mate with waaaaaaaaay too much tint in this rear and back windows, he can't see anything at night, sitting in the back of his car would be cool except that he has an exhaust leak which drones at over 100 dB in the cabin oooooooucccccccch. definitely not cool. but my level of tint is fine i think.

See my sig picture, I like it. 35% all the way around, done years ago by a PO. Nice in the summer, and keeps the direct glare of the sun off of you.

Black tint on black... Tasty. 35% is enough. uneven tinting is just wrong.

If you have black leather, tinting is worth every penny. Saves a burnt but on those hot sunny days.

Thanks for that picture, I've been wondering what Beyern 5's look like on a black car.
