Just got a 1991 535 without an owners manual - any clues as to what the M, S, & E settings are?

s is sport

e is normal or economy

m is snow/mud

congrats on the purchase any more details for us?
automatic we know
mileage, price paid, etc pics?

M stands for manual mode, so whatever gear you select with the shifter, that is what gear the tranny will stay locked into.
You cannot select 4th gear in manual mode on the 535i.
Its good for takeoffs in slippery conditions using 2nd gear.
