I've used an E.A.T. Chip in my 535 5spd for about a year and I'm very satisfied. I do find that I have to use the high octane gas though, minimum 92, preferably 94 (Sunoco). Installation is pretty straightforward.

Mark D'Sylva to see if he can provide one for a UK spec car. This may require a different one than for a US car.

The M30 engine REALLY comes ALIVE with any good chip, and EAT is among the best, and the price is the lowest.

Just installed one of Mark's chips in my 90' 535iA (only took about 45min-1hour). Immediately noticed smoother idle and better throttle response while on the highway. Seemed to shift smoother too, while accelerating, wasn't expecting that. I haven't been through a tank of 90 octane yet, but haven't noticed any knocking. Used 87 octane regularly prior to chip with no complaints. The EAT didn't come with any documentation but other chips report about a 15HP gain on average. I do notice the difference, which is pleasant and might even get better mileage once I get done "testing" this thing. Just one short story, while at a stop light, next to a 2.3 liter turbo SAAB, he wanted to get ahead of me as the two lanes narrowed to one in a few hundred yards. He tried, but didn't make it, heh, heh.
Go for it, it is not expensive and I see no down side.

Hi Kempy.
I've been running for 2 week on Marks EAT chip and I have to say that I am really impressed. Low down power has greatly imporved. The thrill of the extra power at the lights is a joy.
I drive a 1989 build 535iA with 195,000kms on the clock.
