So my battery died and I am locked out of my car, Long story short the only option at the moment is to power through the trunk light. (I checked out http://www.bmwe34.net/e34main/trouble/Locked.htm)
We tried it with a 9 volt + 2 1.5v AAAs (in series) = 12v (its what we had). The alarm made some noise but I was unable to unlock the doors with the key. So we added 2 more AAAs, now 15v. This time the alarm didnt make noise, but the other trunk light and lic plate lights came on, but still no luck with the doors.
Can we hook up more AAAs (we have 16) to power this or will that damage the wiring? We could also hook a car battery to it, but I'm afraid the current would toast my bettery? Please help.
