I am preparing an order of a few small things from bma, what kind of shipping gets to aus in 4-5 working days, i remember big kriss (i think it was him) mentioned that he gets his parts in this time frame, was that UPS ground or international?

Not UPS, but USPS. Most expensive and most expedient at 3-5 days, air shipping. There are a few options available. (http://www.usps.com/global/intlratetables.htm)

How does the pricing compare? Because you are doing it it obviously is a saving but can you give me some ideas.

Pricing comapres very favourably. I will edit this with other posts I have made about it.

I received 3 orders from BMA recently.
AFAIK, 2 came via UPS and took 4-5 days, 1 via USPS and took 12 days.
Talk with Patrick about it and he will be able to give you comparative quotes and estimated delivery times and you can then make a choice. I think there is a little variation depending on not only weight of parcel but also size.
Make sure you stay under AUD $ 800 to avoid duty and GST. ;)

I just received an order from BMA, thanks to Patrick for his help. The order total was just over AU$1000, shipping was AU$185 using USPS Global Express Mail (EMS). I placed the order on Friday last week and it arrived on Monday morning. Thats next business day from California to Brisbane, I couldn't believe it. And if I bought the parts from the dealer I would have spent almost AU$3000

no duty, I was just lucky. I won't be trying another order over the AU$1000 mark. I don't think I would be that lucky twice.

I sent customs an email asking if the AU$1000 includes shipping, but haven't heard anything back yet. From what I have read the rules are open to interpretation a bit, because shipping in Australia would incur GST, but how does that effect international shipping to Australia? and in-turn the AU$1000 threshold.

I will let you know what they say, if they do actually have anything to say.

I will let you know what they say, if they do actually have anything to say.I doubt their computer systems are able to deal with electronic mail yet... :D FYI: The Commercial value includes not just the invoice price, but (all kinds of) shipping and insurance, up unto customs' gate.

Car parts are often grabbed by customs as they incur 5% import duty and 10% GST, on top of the commercial value.

Its quite a slug when you add the $48 general inefficiency fee and the hassle of going to collect from customs, waiting in queues, having them examine you and your package...

If you got a $1000+ item in I would say its due to that recent spate of clearance problems on the wharves keeping them busy.
