Like Bimmerdude I have tranny problems but want to make sure its not caused by a faulty signal from the engine. Have replaced the dash bulb but cannot get it to give the flashing codes by pressing the throttle five times in five seconds. Maybe I dont have the rhythm? Should the engine check light come on on turning the ignition on or is there any lead I can remove to simulate a fault and check the system? Thanks for any help you can give

We need to know what year and model, as well as what market (US/Canada/Euro/other?) to even venture a guess.
No rhythm? You must be white, that's the problem. Ha ha.

Update on this: I have had the dash out. The bulb is Ok and I'm getting 12v at one side of the bulb holder. Any ideas?
