OK, let's try one more time.........
When it's cold (@ 30 degrees) my 1995 530i idles OK at first ( on higher idle) as it warms up to just about normal operasting temp. the idle will stumble all of a sudden, then become "lumpy" and throw the c.e.l. on.
Upon driving for a few minutes at normal speeds or if I give it some throttle in neutral the c.e.l. will extinguish.
It doesn't seem like a vavuum leak to me, so I ask the following:
In your experience:
1) Does this sound like it could be the idle control valve?
If so can the valve be dis assembled and cleaned easily?
2) what is the function of the ambient temp. sensor? Could tthis be the problem?
The problem only occurs when the outside temp. is around 30 degrees or less.
It does not occur in milder temps regardless of the operating temp. of the engine.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Cheers;
B.G.
