I don't get it, what's the big deal with "drifting?" It looks stupid and looks very similar to "sideshows" found out here in Oakland, CA!

The main difference between drifting and sideshows is that one uses American cars and the other foreign ones....

Just had two teenage girls plow into a telephone pole and die last weekend.

http://www.wimp.com/dutchdrifting/Funny how all the peeps in that video are driving sideways on a race-track wearing baseball hats, not helmets... btw, it came from here, a great place to waste bandwidth (http://ww.8200rpm.com/index.php?p=1&t=3&lang=nl) watching euro-drifters with nothign better to do.

Cool - reminds me of the old days with hard skinny bias ply tahrs. Add a gravel road and the off road excursions were usually pretty gentle. Good times.

Well I think drifting is pretty cool. It takes alot more skill than it looks to look good and not plow into a wall. It's also really hard on your clutch, tires, transmission, and hand brake as you can imagine it would be. Still, something i am interested in if I had a seperate non-daily driver car to do it in.

SKILLS?! You're kidding right? What skill is there? All these guys are doing are sliding out their car?!

I agree that its hard on the car. Sorry, its dumb, foolish and a total waste of time. Its nothing more than a fancy sideshow:

to each his own, aren't there like drifting "competitions" sprouting up? it's becoming very popular. i remember when i read import tuner all the time, but then all their cover cars started becoming "drift machines" that, admittedly, were awesome, but they served no purpose. at that point i realized that tin cans and fart cannons werent for me. lol, reminds me of that "gottadrift" guy/kid that joined the forums and talked all kinds of **** about how he wanted to drift his 520i.

They Are All Wearing HelmetsThere was a dude in a silver M3 doing it in some slo-motion scenes who was defiantely wearing a baseball cap. How do you grow up wearing caps and get a new M3 to go drifting in? Hmmm its all a waste this sport. Fun for a while, but more boring than real racing, except when they lose it which is quite regular due to the level of skill required- which is inversely proportional to amount of stupidity invloved in the challenge itself.

It really is great way to destroy drivelines and burn fuel for no good reason.

Sorry if this brings offence, it is not meant to be takenas such- all racing is dumb really, why do we humans have such an obsession with going round in ciricles and kicking balls all over the place, let alone burning all the fuel and rubber we can get our hands on?

I admit that I don't "get it" when it comes to drifting. But to each their own. I did enjoy the video. Actually the production value was quite good.
