View Full Version : Winfred/Bill: Do M50 coil packs have built in ignitors or no?

shows them as being 3 pol but I don't know whether or not the ignitor is built in.

Jon,If I may...No,they DONT have built in ignitors..I use these with aftermarket efi systems and always use ignitors to drive the coils..
Connections are,
ground as in earth..
+ve -12v supply
Trigger input from ignitor.
Dont ever run the coil un earthed,it pops within seconds..
If your using a dwell controll from an aftermarket ecu,the bimmer coils operate at about 3ms duty cycle..

What is the voltage on the +ve signal? I.e what should I have the signal from the driver to the coil rated at?
