I presume from the post that you are new to this type of car.
Welcome, by the way !
May I suggest that you take the car to an independent BMW specialist and pay him/her to check the car out for you. Alternatively get a qualified mechanic and/or BMW nut or both to inspect the car.
If you are in the States, (more info in your profile would be good), get a carfax run on it.
Good luck ! Even if this is not the one, keep looking.

And if you live anywhere near where Hurricane Katrina hit, make sure they do extra checking for water damage.

this site will help alot, it sure helped me, few of the things iv noticed are, the door panels falling apart, and the need for front suspension work

for $1600, what's wrong with it? those side skirts/front look just like the ones i have. hmph, and i was convinced that no one else had it. from the outside it looks good though, if there's nothing terribly wrong you might have found a kick ass deal. where's the car/you located, are there records, etc etc.

yes, i am very new to the 5 series, i have been a 3 series fan for since i can remember but upon seeing this car for such an unbelievable price i began to want one...besides 92/93 is when the 3 series finally gets some shape...the 5 series looks just fine the way it is though.

when you call him back ask him if he knows what kind of kit is on the car. on the bf.c thread it was claimed "m ground effects" but those side skirts aren't m-tech. and that means he (the seller) could be decently uninformed about the car's true condition.... but still for 1600 bucks you could part it and make money. esp the trans.
