poor running when cold

i have a 1989 e34 535i and am experiencing cold running problems. when the accelerator is depressed when cold the engine revs momentarily drop very low and then pick up again shortly after, this only happens when cold . this also manifests itself in slightly choppy running when cold also. auto choke problem maybe? any ideas ?

might just be some condensation on the electrical system. Check your hoses, boots, etc. Might just be a cracked wire or something.
