Just thought I would post this for general information. My '95 525 is up at 168K now. Now that my cooling and transmission problems are resolved (new radiator, trans oil cooler, trans, and secondary water pump) I figured it was time to look at preventive maintenance. The car was properly serviced before I got it but lo and behold the 02 sensor was not replaced at the 100k intervale.
The car runs fine but in the interests of... Autozone, $76 shipped, for a Bosch OEM with plug. The best price I could find anywhere. Judicious use of Liquid Wrench and the slotted sensor extension, another $10, off it came! Fuel economy now at 21 combined city/highway driving (70mph) 27 highway, about a 10% increase. The car runs even smoother.:)
