erroneous computer messages

The computer on the dash, where the speedo is, gives off erroneous messages once in a while, lowbeam out, or something to do with the brake lights when everythign workfine. Someone said it was an easy soldeering fix, can anyone tell me the fix or point me to a page that shows the fix. Oh yeah it's a 1991 525I

Bulbs and sockets to make sure they are clean.

The check Module is sensitive and can be tricked by dirt, carbon and cheap bulbs.

The Brake Light warning may be the sign of a dirty/failing brake light switch.
It can be cleaned, or just replaced.
