Looks like they finally gave up on auctionaing this car and now have a buy it now price of $35k, which to me sounds like a steal. Of course I don't have $35,000 to spend on aything.

a supercharged 540 with an automatic and 74,000 miles. wonder how much longer that tranny will last before it grenades?
calling it an m5 wagon is kinda lame. m5 brakes and wheels do not an m5 make.

True....but they have put more money into that car than they are asking. If I had the dough I'd get it.

I believe that if it was really any good, the seller would know someone who would jump on it! Ebay for months does not inspire me to get out my checkbook for this car!
It is nice, but the tranny, oooooh, poor tranny! I would be just waiting for it to blow!

You could probably duplicate it for $40k with all the bodywork, so $35k isn't a bad price.

540iT's run in the $25k - $35k range usually, add $6k for a VF supercharger, another $5k for the brakes, wheels, bodykit painted to match and you're close to $40k...

Then again, get a 540 6-spd and spend the $6k on the supercharger... For under $20k you could have a 400 hp 3800lb monster.

blegh,

for $35k I would have bought MattP's real M5T with an S38 and a 6 speed.

Wonder what he got for it btw

with an M5 body kit and T-stars, a guy actually asked me at the car wash if mine was an M5T, and I said, "sadly no."

Imagine saying yes, and then not being able to open the hood. No one needs that kinda karma

For less than 35k you could TC/SC an E34 M5 and still have 10k left.

I'd tell you privately, but you are not accpeting emails from this board. :-) Let's just say that it fetched a very good amount as a result of being brought up to fantastic condition both mechanically and cosmetically.

As I understand it, it has several other E39 M5 specific bits in it like the mirror, foot rest, and various trim bits. I was once told the insperation to put the M5 badge on it had something to do with seeing my E34 M5T at the dealer. :-)

To my knowledge it is also the only full Dinan S3 540i Wagon package delivered to date. (It was the guinea pig so to speak). It should be covered by the Dinan extended warrenty.

Several times, I've been at Classic BMW (sometime with the M5T) and seen this car there. It's a sweet car, and has a _mean_ sound. If I were in different circumstances, I would consider buying it myself.

However, I do have to say that a "normal" E39 540iT is a maintaince intensive car at times if you want to keep it in top shape.
