Any harm installing a new guibo without harmonic balancer?

Not following completely.
Changing the guibo / flex disc should not be related to the balancer in any way. Changing both the flywheel and balancer (lighter) may adversly affect things.
Maybe we (I) need more information.

driveshafts, If i had one on mine i would put it back on rather than leave it off. Its designed to dampen one range of frequency's on the driveshaft

I can tell you that my 89 535i auto has the harmonic balancer, but no guibo.
