oh you do hate yourself don't you, pug's may have the potential to be decent cars but with little or no parts support in the us it's just painful to deal with

Getting parts from Europe isnt too hard.... But the love would outweigh the pain.... Wish I did the head gasket on min back in 1998 vs selling it w/ blown head...

All these cars are in SEVERE need of some TLC, but they are all driveable.
First we have a big bad de-turbo'd turbo diesel (5speed), probably has 75hp!? Pretty day out huh?

Next up we have my first car. It has a pretty funny story along with it. Since my dad has worked on peugeots for 25+ years I decided one would be good to start with. I found the exact car on autotrader in Detroit with 56k miles on it. We decided that was to far to drive and started looking around locally. Believe it or not, we looked on ebay and found the exact car 15 minutes from our house. It had been sitting for 5 years but with some tlc and a month of working on it in spare time it was good for the road. We never did get the injection figured out (Kjetronic) but now I think the ID of the fuel injection line is the culprit. Anyway...

Thats right! Fuel Injection! I'm not sure what the STI means, but I can certainly say it doesn't mean fast!

Poor thing has been sitting for about 2 years :(

The Econoscope lights never worked, thus I probably never shifted at the proper time. Blast

Whats this?! An e34?! how did that get there ;-) Please ignore the ugly salt film. Its going to get a bath today. No its not blacked out, one of the chrome center pieces fell out so I took the other one out. :(

Whats an endoscope have to do with shifting the car (or is it something i'd rather not know?)

Yeah, the ketchup packet is nice to. It was suppose to tell you the optimum shift points to get the best fuel economy.

Lol my bro's Peugeot turbo deiesel wagon a long time ago had a failed turbo that my dad did a bypass on and prolly had the 75 hp you detailed... it was sooo bad and slow... until the line burst and it burst into 30 foot high flames...
Thanks for the pics!!

Well my dad never likes to get rid of any car. The Wagon has the engine pulled and will probably never drive again. It was turbo/intercooled (new) but we found it in a junk yard in southern Indiana with a warped head. Bought it for 1200 dollars, removed IC and turbo, had a friend plane the head, and got about 40k miles out of it before the head cracked (My mother let it overheat one day :() Been thinking about putting the crank/block/cam/etc on ebay.

I'd have to say the e34 in their current condition, I'd say in their prime it *might* be pretty close. I wish I had 2 prime examples to find out, the peug's are becoming hard to find though. My dad just fixed up an 84 MB 190E, I like the Peugeot better than it though, more comfort, independant rear suspension (don't know of the MB has that or not) it doesn't have 1 windsheild wiper :P
The batteries are dead in my camera, so no more pics today :(

My family had a total of 6 Peugeots I think during the 80s-90s. The 505 Turbo in nearly new condition was soooooo sweet... especially when my dad would tweak the turbo... At one point I'd say it was putting out 80-90 HP a liter... it just took off and handled possibly better than an E34/E36 4 door.
They did have some electrical gremlins... The turbos and timing of these cars required a high level of ability.
Hey I think my dad has a brand new in the box rear end for a 505....

Damn, that sounds like a ball of fire. They weren't junk, thats for sure. The suspension was completely GONE on my car, we refilled the shocks with oil and they seemed to come back enough to make it driveable. No cornering though or you'd scrape your fender :P Come to think of it I got it out of its hole last year sometime and shot up the road, it was fun. Makes me really miss a 5 speed. Unfortunately for my Peugeot, as soon as I got my e34 I never looked back. I assume it would be a different story if it wasn't 200$, if it didn't take 3 feet to drive (never got it to consistantly idle) and had some type of suspension. Cheers to the Peugeot. I'd take a 406 coupe...mmmm
