Was driving in the rain last night and wipers started going mad on me. When you put the wipers on intermediate wiper they would work OK and then suddenly change to constant wipe? The same would happen when you put them on costant (i.e. vice a versa)any ideas? Wiper relay maybe? I have a 525tds touring.

I have a '91 525i and mine see to be road speed regulated. Havent given them that much thought. Usually just use rain-x.

Might be that you need to reset the delay time between wipes, in the intermitt, setting,,,,,,manual sez how to do that-- flick the lever up and then down within one second,,,then flick up, then down again in the time you want the delay to be,,,then flick it up once,,,,it should (in a perfect world), reset to the delay you waited.

I think the process is a couple of steps quicker than this: with the wipers off:-
a) up then down (so, intermittent, then straight off again.)
b) up (into intermittent)
The delay should now be set to (roughly) the interval between (a) and (b). At least on my '93...

lol. At a stop, the time is doubled, because the rain doesn't accumulate as fast. As you speed up they will move back to the intermittent speed that you set. Also, on low....when you go below about 3-5mph, they will turn intermittent for this reason as well. High is the same speed always.
