Hi. My name is Theodore Brown and I have a couple of questions I was hoping you could answer. Firstly, my car is a Green 1995 525i. The car steadily grew on me and now I simply love it to pieces. So here are my questions.
1. I got a new BMW emblem (old one was damaged from years of weather) for the hood of the car and installed it using two new rubber grommets that were made to fit it. The new one installed flawlessly, but then I noticed it moved back and forth if I pressed on the top or bottom. I have the emblem's grommets on as tight as possible and used my full weight to press it down, repeatedly. Is there some way I can fix this since my mom's X3 doesn't seem to suffer from this problem (nor any other BMW I have encountered).
2. How would I get to a ding above the wheel on the front right side. I looked under the hood and there seems to be a good deal of items blocking me from reaching the metal so I can bump it out (its too small to use a suction cup). It infuriates me to see the blemish on so pretty a car.
3. Is there a way to remove door panels? They seem to be connected to the door by some sort of plastic rivets that will tear themselves free of the panel before freeing from the door.
4. Is there a place I can find a new driver and passenger seat?
5. Is there a place where I can find new door panels?
6. The handle on my glovebox falls out whenever I lock it, and will only stay in when it is in the unlocked posistion. I saw someone mention a circlip holding it in but I can't for the life of my find anything that would be able to hold it in.
7. I was thinking of replacing the lights of the car with clear ones for that classy euro look :) . I found all of them except the clear replacement for the two side flashers

8. My washer fluid system no longer seems to work and I was hoping that I could repair it without going to the dealer. I think that its the pump since, I don't hear any noise when I activate it. I found the pump availble online but can't find its location around the engine.

Thank you in advance to anyone who takes the time to help a new bimmer fan out :)

For number 3, the plastic things will come out if you pry them carefully. You will mmost likely break some, so its a good idea to oder some before you start.

The pump is underneath attached to the washer bottle. Have a read on www.bmwe34.net

For question 3 the door panels are held in by small plastic rivets that have a nasty habit of breaking when you pry the panel away. Once you've freed the rivets you must lift the panel UP and out as behind the door handle there is a clip which slides down over a retainer on the door. You will also have to unhook the door opening mechanism. Also be careful of the window switch which has very short wires. Trim can be expensive so weigh up what it would cost you at a trimmer.

I had my washer bottle pump out last weekend. I have an earlier model 525i but if it is similar it is in the front of the washer bottle and simply pushes in so you should be able to just pull it out of the bottle.

Question #2: getting to the ding in your fender- if you remove the front wheel well lining...you probably can get to the ding. Here's a link to the front fender wheel well diagram which will give you an idea of what you need to do to remove it: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=HD63&mospid=47404&btnr=41_0217&hg=41&fg=10 .

You should save this link to the online parts database to your favorites folder: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do ... you can't order stuff from the site...but the diagrams, part nbr index, and the part cross reference feature will come in handy. (http://www.realoem.com/bmw/partxref.do) You get to the part cross reference info by clicking the "search by part #" link at the bottom of the home page or you'll see the link when you search by keyword...this will allow you to enter the BMW 11 or 7 digit part nbr...this will then bring up all the models that use that part...which you can select the model and click your way to the parts diagram.

It is invaluable as a tool for part numbers, approximate part prices, deconstructing when taking stuff apart and you can't find that "hidden" clip or screw, knowing in advance how many clips and screws are holding the part in, and/or putting stuff back together after you've forgotten. :D

The highlighted links in the pics below show where to click to get to the parts cross reference feature on the realoem.com web site:

For #7, you can get the clear flashers on eBay:

Not sure about the quality.
