Hello all...I am new to this forum. I have been searching for a e34 for approximately two months now, I have viewed many, some good and some bad. I am looking for the right one for me....Hence taking my time ans seeing as many as i can before buying.
I currently have a e30 which i plan to sell soon as i buy a e34 as i need more space for the family.
I have a quick question.
When and what causes a e34 535i sport engine to loose compression?

Just like any other engine? Piston rings? Headgasket?
In any case the engine needs a rebuild of some sort.
PS - theres no "sport engine" its the same as a regular 535I M30B35..

when: at the least convenient time
why: something bad happened
Perhaps the 535i sport refers to the rare 2-door e34?
Is there more background details for this m30 engine with lost compression?

Welcome to the forum. You've just been introduced to the humour that keeps us coming back day after day. Funky blue writing by the way. It will do wonders for Phil Sanderson's red eyes!!!

The "sport" moniker was attached to some 535s in various euro markets. As I understand it, "iS" badging and all.
Lose compression: bad head gasket, warped or cracked block/head, poor valve sealing, worn rings or cylinder walls (not really a problem on the M30).
No compression: hole in the block, hole in a piston, dropped valve.
best, whit
