View Full Version : Anyone know where to get a block cleaned in SE PA?

NT... looking to clean my mtoor I am building... don't know anyone off the top of my head other than VAC, if they even do cleaning.

Thats what I used (Marine Clean, a POR-15 product). It was clean enough to take POR-15 over top. Jon, however, may be seeking a smoother finish.

Thats not bad Dave. I am looking for something like that. I will paint the block black afterwards... I guess you painted it that marine grey? Where can I find this ****?

Jon, get a 1 gallon jug of Marine Clean. Mix a 50% solution and soak/scrub the engine multiple times. Use a wire wheel at first to loosen scales etc, then hit it with the marine. As long at its oil free, paint it up with POR-15 or equlivalent.

1 gal cost me $20 CAN. I still have over 1/2 left following a ton of cleaning associated with the 2 instals I've had to do.

Call up machine shops... they should have it. Giant dishwasher thing...

tiger said it looks like a giant upright dishwasher. That will get almost everything out and the rest can be cleaned up by hand.

"Marine Clean" should be found wherever POR-15 is sold. You can then paint the de-greased/cleaned block with whatever color high temp POR-15 you desire, or, top the POR with another high temp paint.
