1990 525I Question

Hello, I am able to get a relatively cheap parts car in the area - it is a 1990, and im assuming it has an M20 engine. Does anyone know if the transmission bolt up to an M50? If so, then is it possible to do a transmission swap?

EDIT: I assume you're talking about 5 speed parts below. While the M20's 4hp22 would bolt to the M50, it would be a fun time getting it all to work.

Yes and yes. All of the 5 speed parts (driveshaft, shift console) may bolt right in, too -- I don't know the relative difference between the M20 and M50 mounting points, if any.

The question is, what is there to do with the rest of the car?

If i get it, I will probably end up selling it for parts. I need to get it first though. It is really near me and the engine has a damaged head - timing belt broke. The car has around 300K miles on it too. I will get more details tomorrow hopefully.
