will an 89 530 gearbox be compatible with my 535?

ive been offered an 89 530i with a manual box will i be able to use this 'box and flywheel etc on my 535 for a manual conversion? and a question to anyone whos done it, is it a hard conversion? cheers daemon

Nope. not compatible- ASSUMING you're talking about an M60 (V8) 530i???.


EDIT: If it's an M30 530i I6, then it should be a direct swap...

It's not that hard to do the auto to manual swap- but it's ALOT easier if you have access to the 5 speed parts car so you can be assured of getting all the little bits + pieces that make the swap soooo much easier.

did they make a v8 530 in 89?
anyways 'box ive been offered is still in shell, he had headgasket go so he decided to break the car, hes sold lights interior doors etc but still has engine 'box suspension and wheels so ill be trailering the whole thing:D :D
