Has anyone installed seats from an e39 (next generation 5er) into their e34?

the seats in Pops' e39 are really really comfy and the heaters are better than the ones i had in my 525.... imo though go for some e30 recaro sport seats, that would be sweeeet

Wouldnt E39 seats be more expensive?
But alright... Seats are pretty much the same. I think it should be a direct swap
Not sure on the wiring harness though - in any case it should have similar signals there, so you can adapt it, just get the pinouts.

i dont think you can do the swap, apart from the wiring harness problems, e34 had a distinct way of putting in seats, were you to use e39 seats i forsee custom fab work ahead for you, but you ought to wait till someone like wini, or lowell posts to be sure

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the seat rails are totally different and you will have to do some welding to make them fit.

Well, i have seen the seats form the E34 being compatible with the really recent versions of the 3-series, E46 even... so I dont know...
The rails may be similar

They are completely different seats, different dimensions, mounting points, harness connectors.
