Just curious as to how far up the speedo you think an M30 could bury the needle... I did a nice little run and happened to hit 120 (according to guages) when I was still in 4th gear at about 5500.
Anyone have any experiences? (on the TRACK of course ;))

The claimed top speed is 143MPH. Different combinations of transmissions and diffs probably make a small difference, and your speedo is probably overoptimistic by ~10MPH at that speed, so you may see 155 on the clock -- but the car won't actually be going that fast.
For comparison, the last E32 740 I drove was still accelerating briskly through 140MPH when I backed off.

I hit 135 in mine once and it was still pulling. Definately was more left to go. Backed out because the car was getting floaty (less than a slab of a road) + the rear passenger window seal let go creating this gawdawful noise.
(this was prior to all the engine work...likely slower now :D)

My 535 is completely stock, and twice I have gotten up to 143MPH indicated. The last 5MPH took about 15 seconds and it had nothing left at 143. I wish I'd had my GPS on me at the time so I could have seen the true speed, but at 75 indicated my GPS tells me i'm doing about 74, so the speedo is pretty accurate at that speed at least.

Was that picture taken just before all your warning lights lit up? ;)

Thats with my 500shot NAWZ...actually its not even me or my car. All i know is that neither is an "M car" and the top one has the same steering wheel as me (it could actually be my car but for the speed).
PS: I think the top picture may be a 7-series. The corner of the speaker cover has vent to allow for an air duct behind it. The e32 7 has a whole adjustable vent in place of the speaker corner vent.

...my speedo ends at 160, no reading after that. This one goes past.
If an M car, the MPG gauge should be an oil temp gauge...
photoshop wonder?

Something is goofy.
You say your 535 hit 135mph?
Was this with the metric mechanic cam?
Was this block #2?
Was this achieved down a mountain, from say, Leavenworth?

It certainly wouldn't be the first time a manufacturer was a little optimistic with the top speed figure.
217 MPH XJ220, anyone? :)
