Guys,

We're blessed to have a machine shop right next door to us at work. Yesterday, I showed the guy who runs the place an M30B35 intake manifold and explained that I wanted to fabricate a plate to cover the current TB inlet and cut a hole on the other side. He said that he'd prefer to do a run of them versus doing the setup work for one, and the cost would be something around $75 a pop.

So, anybody want to create an alpina-esque M30 BiTurbo intake? Admittedly, it wouldn't have the same flow due to the size, but it would be much more convenient for an FI setup.

I'd need cores to get it done. Dirty doesn't matter; there's a place, also next door, that strictly does sandblasting EDIT: sorry, they would be BEAD blasted, with GLASS BEAD.

Right, a slip of the hands. I'll edit the original to appease the great Scott Hersted :)

(by the way, what's so frightening about standing on your head? had a bad experience once with it or something?) :D

glass beading is far less abrasive. The glass beads shatter on impact. You get the cleaning effect without the harsh abrasion and surface alteration that sandblasting causes.

Sort of. IF you used a 220 grit media, the sand wouldn't affect the surface that much. But my intent would be to remove cosmolene remnants and clean the surface, not remove metal. We're looking for functional here, not pretty.

maybe for the duration actually....

I know you are joking Whit, but apparently there is an overall perception out there that I either 1) know a lot, or 2) carry the omnipotent presence that our old friend George Mann did. NEITHER of which are correct! lol

I think my fear of being upside-down started on day one when the doctor dropped me on my head.

I know you know what you are doing.....I just didn't want the naive and inexperienced (I'm being polite here by not calling them "****ing idiots who only listen to what they want to hear") n00bs on here getting the wrong idea when they read "sandblasting".

I look forward to chatting with you, Whit, about M30/Touring stuff off the board.

Regards
Scott

I have an M30 manifold with nothing to do with it, if anybody wants it or you need it to do a run of them let me know.

I'm going to be using this twin 60mm TB in the Alpina position soon, should make my old M30 breathe a bit better

I know a guy who actually has done that from ter-tech. But as for that TB, that thing will do very nicely. Oh and he added 3 injecters on eack side of the tb.
