Red/Black '91 M5 for sale- quick

I am buying an '03 M5 and have a decent offer to trade my e34 towards it at a good inde shop.

'91 Brilliant red with Balck int. 101k, VERY nice exterior, mint interior. 100% stock with T-stars and original turbine covers. Everything works, never tracked, 100% inside storage babied, babied, babied car.

I bought the car from the same Indy shop last year for $18k and put 2,000 miles on the car. They're offering $15k plus the sales tax savings of $750 totals $15,750. I'm sure I could get the '03 for a grand less for a cash deal so $15k should be about equal.

I have a TON of pictures at work but cannot access them from home. As I'm sure you've probably seen many black M5 interiors and this one is nearly perfect you can use your imagination until I can get some better pics. Whatt'ya think, I'm some kind of car freak with countless files of photos of my cars? sheesh... I'll take some new ones tomorrow in the sun if anyone is seriously interested.

Outside it's a very good 9 and only a good detailing away from 9.5+.

I have seen '95 M3s go for over 20K in excellent condition recently.

The car looks to be pretty much rust free with very good paint and windows, and thats a major + in reselling price.

WAFI... (what an f-ing idiot)...in '96 these cars fetched $30k+ any day, the same as the e39's are fetching now. A 5 year old car with a sticker of $63k for $18k? Nice bubble, bro.

Second off, WTF do you care? I also have an as-new 30k '91 535im that i paid $17k for, is that too much too? Sorry to tell you but there are cars out there that are in such condition as to not necessitate daily maint procedures and they cost more than the basic 525 (no offense to M50 owners i assure you).

Junk, money pit M5's can be had for $10-12k and good ones for $14-17... the odd mint example gets $18-22 with proper documentaion and the only reason mine isn't one of those cars is the lack of docs.

I'm trying to keep this car in "the family" rather than trade it as it is an excellent car and should be cared for, if you're not ineterested, don't jack the thread... thanks for the bump though...

to buy for a super low price. thus i'm very surprised they offered you that
much. which means its a very good person running the dealership. they're
buying it cuz they like the car, not b/c they want to make $$ off it =]

we *almost* had that with our ml55 amg when we went to trade it in
the guy at landrover was going to give us 4,000 over what his "little black
book" told him the car was worth...he just said he wanted the amg b/c
they are rare...

kinda like the m5 ur selling =]

I think my PC buffer got more miles than the car!! Yea, it's had a pretty gentle life. My wife gives me crap for the new cars sitting outside while the old ones get garage space...

The price anything sells for is as much as what somebody is willing to pay. No more, no less. This goes for sneakers, gasoline, M5s or azzhole replacements.:D

While I have no personal opinion on this matter, I will offer KBB.com's take on it, in the So Cal market: $6800 wholesale, in excellent condition. With a 3500 pack on it, these sell for about $11 to $12K out here, when you do see them. If it's in truly excellent condition, it's worth about $12,000 in this market- seriously. If you all don't believe me, do a '91 M5 with 101K at KBB or edmunds- Although it is market based, and there are a lot of old M5's here in So Cal... BOL!

I appreciate your input but junk out here goes for $10k and a perfect $20k car is not uncommon. Before I bought mine a looked at a TON of $13-15k cars that had worn interiors, bad carpet, oil leaks, etc...and they all sold!!

And condition truly is the deciding factor. Obviously, this is not a run of the mill old M5- it is a rareity; hence, the asking price is not the prime factor in a serious buyer's mind, rather, it is whether or not they want a truly fabulous e34. As e34's go, this is about as good as you can get, possibly competing with a late e34 with a V8. Nice car- good luck...

I have yet to see an accurate KBB or Edmonds value for a limited production collector car. The numbers are simply too low to get a good sampling for an accurate value. Especially as the cars get older, the price range gets larger. You can find a ragged out E34 M5 for $6k, or a perfect one for $20k. There's just not enough cars sold for them to gather accurate information, all their values are basically statistics anyway. Only way to really gauge the market is to look for a while and see what the asking and selling prices are, or a market report in a specific enthusiast based magazine. They actually take the time to look at the condition and particulars of the cars to form their value.
