So my buttons for resetting the trip odometer and the error messages didn't work, so I thought I'd try my hand at the capacitor job. It went great. Now I don't have to worry about whether my trip resets or not, since it's gone. And it took the regular odometer with it, so no more worrying about putting miles on the car!
Sweeeeeeeeet. :(
On the plus side, I did put a '50s pin-up girl over the markings on my MPG meter, so as not to be reminded once every 5 seconds of the exact rate at which my 3.5 is gobbling up $3.45/gallon good stuff...
