Interior Chrome

Hey I checked the archives and I can't seem to find where to buy the INTERIOR chrome strips that run along the INSIDE of the window on top of the door sill. The consensus of past posts seems to be that they cannot be cleaned....can they? Thanks

I'm interested too... as mine are also all cloud and crap.

Mine are still looking ok,,,,(white E34,,grey interior), but if the interior chrome gets to looking real nasty,,,think ill just shadowline it, and use the left over blackout tape from the exterior. Might not look bad at all,,,blacking out the chrome strip on top of the door, on the interior,,,,,,would fit in with the black weatherstripping around the window, and the wood trim.

You buy them from the dealer or BMA, just like any other part.

I looked on BMA's website and I can't find them. If I call and I don't have the part number, do you think they will know what I am talking about if I just describe it to them?

Chrome trim on the inside of the door, beside the glass. Check realoem.com.

I used Brasso and removed all the flaking trim, then lightly brushed it with steel wool (mask off the area!) and have a brushed aluminum look.

So cleaning or restoration really isnt possible? :-( Do you have any pictures of the brushed alu look?

You can clean and restore them. You need to strip the clear coat off (fine sandpaper or even steel wool can do this no problem). Then polish them. Then clear coat them. Can do it all while they are on the car. Just mask everything off really well.

But yes, they are also replaceable. They come in both chrome and shadowline.

I used Neverdull on mine. Took off the clearcoat and shined up the metal. Tough to get in the corners with it though...worth a try.

Wenol is awesome metal polish as well. Did wonders for my polished Fuchs on my old 911.
