holy coolant temp -wtf

never overheated before -all of a sudden the bong comes on.coolant temperature sensor-all the way to the red-turned off car-no leaks -set for about 5 minutes-turned off air and it went back to normal middle and then drifted back up and back down again -wtf

When did it happen? In traffic jam or while driving normal speed on Highway?
And have you checked the coolant level?

i have the big guy . 91 535i with 209 k on her. it did happen with a-c on but we were moving along about 40 mph. thanks guys
