I was curious if anyone here has put the license plate in the front window over the dash...

Any tickets?
If not, how did you mount it?

Curious...

Just shove it between the vent and winshield about where the glovebox is. I live in NJ (need both plates) and I've been riding around with both a Euro plate and the plate filler for about a year w/ no problems. I don't even have the U.S. plate in the winshield anymore, it's in the glovebox. If the cop wants to be a dick, he could get you for no front plate and obstruction of view if the plate is in the windshield.

and forget about it.

I been driving with the filler plate for a while, passed many speed trap, road block etc. No problemo.

Just be cool...

Plus the plate in the front window thing looks too "trailerpark" for a BMW, more fitting of an old beater with no front bumper.

Don't you think that by putting your plate in the windshield...it could decapitate you or your passenger in the event of an accident?

I think that is illegal, and would attract more attention than not having a plate at all.

anybody from CT have any tickets from driving around without a front plate. I have a couple friends that dont have one and say they get pulled over every one in a while but never ticketed.

You would be better to just loose the front plate, in my experience modifying the plates in anyway is actually a criminal offense. I spent a weekend in jail for that once.

i got a ticket for having the front plate on the dash, clearly visible. maybe its just in NY. it was dismissed cause i attached it. dont know why the cop wouldnt just let me attach it on the spot, i had a drill in the car, but he was grumpy.

I'm curious as to why anyone would want to remove the front plate.

I'm in the SF Bay area. Car didn't have the front plate when I bought it ~15 months ago. Got stopped only once...a couple of blocks from my house. I really think he only used that as a reason to pull me over to see if I had been drinking (I hadn't). We ended up talking about the kids in the neighborhood and that was it.
So the moral of the story is...don't be doing something you shouldn't be doing because it can be used to stop you and then get you for something else!

to track your speed

It's illegal in all states here and surprised that it isn't in the US as well.
