Kyle - look at the lighting on the picture of the basketball player and at the lighting on the pictures of your girlfriend. You can start with taking a picture with light coming from somewhere obove. The pictures you've given it would be impossible to make a convincing image.

The players picture has light coming obviously from above and to the left.

That would make it easier. If you provide some pics good enough to make a convincing composite I'd gladly give it a try, but you won't get anything really convincing with the photos you've provided.
