I bought 2 front 34111157037 (http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=HC23&mospid=47402&btnr=34_0443&hg=34&fg=05&hl=48) and 2 rear (http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=HC23&mospid=47402&btnr=34_0443&hg=34&fg=05&hl=48)(3421158578) rebuild caliper kits from BMA. When I recieved the items they were the seal kit (meaining the rubbers and not the pistions). Do the pistions normally come with the rebuild kits or are they seperate. I can't see a part number for the pistons. I haven't spoken to Patrick yet I thought I would ask here first.

they usually don't come with pistons bought some off BMA (they were ATE) a couple of months ago, basically just a new dust cap and seal

Thanks for that Rob. Yeah they are ATE seal kits. I took threw out the pistons a long time ago.

How bad were those pistons? Rebuild kits do not come with pistons.

I threw them out maybe 6 months ago. I assumed the rebuild kit came with them :(
Edit: I can just use the ones that are in my brakes now, the fronts I mean and for the rear try to find them somewhere. There is no BMW part number, I may need to try an ATE supplier.

I tried everywhere, even the dealer to look for pistons for my rear calipers and couldnt find them ANYWHERE.
i eventually got some rebuilt calipers instead

Surely they are sold somewhere like through a ATE dealer.

I know this doesn't help but, I'm led to believe the pistons are matched to their bores during production for clearance reasons.
I had the exact same situation with a customer with an E30, he ended up getting exchange calipers.

yes that'd be what you expect really. usually when we get out hydraulic cylinders fixed they rehone the cylinders anyway, if your pistons were stuffed
you're almost guaranteed to have F-ed bores

As I told you, MK Autotechnik in Germany can supply at good prices.

Peter Meissner has some E32, E31 and the old 635, he knows about our cars.
I import a lot of parts from him, especially parts from Meyle, MAPCO and Bosch, ATE etc.
