Need some help with a power window gremlin on my 95 525i. When pressing the power window switch down, the window lowers normally. No issues. When it reaches the bottom, I can hear (from inside the door) a clicking sound that repeats about 8 -10 times. When pressing either the Auto up or just manually pressing/holding the up button, the glass will raise about 3/4 of the way and stop. At this point I can a hear a noise form inside the door, and then a noise from under the dash. Pressing the up button again will raise the window a little more, then the same noises. I have to repeat this 10+ times to get the window all the way up.

I am a novice at this type of thing, but the problem almost seems to be electrical not mechanical. Would might be the root of this problem - the power window motor, window switch, tracks? Could something be out of adjustment maybe? The problem has quickly become worse in a couple of days. I first noticed a couple of days ago, when the window was cracked just enough to allow for a whistling noise. I just thought I had not fully closed the window, but obviously there is an issue.

Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

and take a good look at what is going on.

sounds like the window regulator needs work, or replacement.

One thing to check is the sliders, if nothing else than as a preventative maintenance item. . My '95 525 iT driver's window suddenly popped off the track at about 100K miles, the problem was dried out grease in the channels in which the window slides. Some lithium grease may be your friend.

Your symptoms do sound a bit different, but maybe this'll help. Good luck!

Thanks for the help guys. I'm going to go ahead and order a new window regulator. I've never ordered anything from BMA. Is the website www.bmaparts.com? There are several parts sites and I want to make sure I go to a reputable one that this forum recommends. I'm looking through this site now and only see a rear window regulator listed. I noticed in another thread this morning a reference to PAtrick at BMA selling a regulator/window motor combo, so I figure I'm not on the right web site.

Does BMA sell the sliders as well? Any idea of the part number, and quantity I'll need to for one door?

Thanks again for the help.

Patrick and BMA is the same, he is in charge for parts.
You can also try www.autohausaz.com
I am very happy with them, quick and good prices.

But first of all check what is defective and then order.
You either need
window regulator, because probably some teeth are broken on the toothed rim

or the bushings only, which cost only a few $ and are probably easiest to buy at the nearest dealer

Bushings/sliders you would need 2 per door.

First check, then order.

first pic the nylon gear in the window motor gearbox usually loses one or more teeth and when it gets around to the broken tooth you get that area that your talking about where it stops and makes noise, and since you can't buy the gearbox by itself you end up buying the motor and gearbox as a unit. Patrick at bma has them at a very good price.http://www.bimmernut.com/%7Ebillr/images/window1%20copy.jpg

The regulator itself has metal gear teeth and is pretty strong so they rarely give you any problems as seen herehttp://www.bimmernut.com/%7Ebillr/images/Window%20stop%201.jpg

Heres what you do,
get a bentleys, buy the stuff from BMA and put it in.
Once your window electrics go, its only a matter of time before the rest lets go. dont wait around, these things are all linked. my cousin had this problem with his honda accord last year. turned out to be a fuse.
