Big time. I'll write up the full story when it's all over. Long story short, bent valves. Still don't really know what happened. The chain skipped and screwed up the timing. Mechanic said the chain tensioner is ok so it wasn't that. I guess the crank sprocket must have shifted. The replacement crank is somewhat of a "while you're at it..." type of thing. He said since he's had to remove the balancer again to find the problem, he doesn't feel safe putting it back on again the same way. He said find a crank. I think I've found one for about 500 US (hopefully a little less).

So Geak, our engines are getting raped in parallel.

The only thing that's making me feel a little better about all this is that after it's all said and done, I'll have a really refreshed engine with its life meter reset quite far back.
