Lloyd mat fasteners

When I bought my 1989 535i new from the dealer I bought some floor mats for the front and rear passenger areas. These mats were manufactured by Lloyd who is still in business today. The mats were held to the floor with plastic T shaped fasteners that were inserted into holes below the mat and factory carpet. My fasteners have long since been lost. I would like to replace the fasteners. Does anyone have any experience securing replacement fasteners?

It should come with the mats. I also purchased mine from the dealer and it was part of the purchase- they are expensive enough for mats. My mats came from BMW as far as I can see on the box. I don't know who the subsidiary manufacturer is. Call the dealer and say wtf? Gimme my 50 cent fasteners.

I bought winter rubber mats for my 330xi and it came with hexagonal clip-like things.

Dealer should have them.

Apparently there are at least two types...

Either a T whereby you push through the mat from the top and into the hole on the floor, then twist...

or

Twist it into the floor, then the mat has 'fasteners' which allow it to snap into the connectors you installed on the floor.

My 95 apparently has the second type that twist into the floor. Even so, I have often woindered if they were the original mats.

The PO, only owner before me, thought they were the original mats. However, that was the type of thing they would not have paid attention to as they just took it to the dealer when the service lights told them to do so! At least the car was very stock, yet slightly under maintained.

Actually both types will fit. I have an 89 and used the ones that go through from the top and twist. Jay535i sold me his that twist on the bottom and mats snap on top. Both work fine... as the fastener is the same. Basically if the mats just have a hole, you need the former. If your mats have hardware in place of the holes, it snaps in.

I solved my own problem. I contacted Lloyd Design Corp over the phone in Arieta, CA. Free of charge they sent me three bags of the black fasteners. They led me to believe thay also have the same fasteners in other colors for different colored mats. Each bag contains 8 fasteners, two for each of the 4 mats. This appears to be the original packaging that I recall getting when my 1989 e34 was new from the dealer. The bag contains instructions for cleaning and maintaining Lloyd mats in addition to instructions on how to key Lock your mats in place. These fasteners are the "T" fasteners. They are about an inch in size with a twist on cap on the top and a small catch bar on the bottom. Installation is very easy. The mats are placed in the car so that the grommets in the mat are centered over the keyholes in the floor. The fasteners are inserted through the grommets and into the keyholes in the floor. With a slight downward pressure the fastener is twisted only 1/4 turn clockwise to hold the mat in place.

I was able to remind myself Lloyd was the manufacturer of these mats as they had a tag with their label sewn on under the driver's side mat.

I really do not know what to say. After 223,000 of driving the car the mats are still ok. After 18 years, Lloyds had the fasteners in stock. What more can I saw about the price and customer service. I know nothing about car mats, but will always try and buy Lloyds branded mats in the future.
