As some of you are aware, my E34 is running on 5 cyls (unless under load). This of course means that it idles rough as guts at traffic lights in slow moving traffic, and when off the power and coasting.
What I do is move the shifter (AUTO) into N when in above situations, as it makes the jerking/roughness less apparent.
Question:
If I am rolling along (say down a slight incline, using no throttle), and slip into N, does this badly affect the gearbox when I re-engage Drive?? I guess it would just be slipping on the torque converter, right??
Is this bad??
I usually drive slowly, using low revs, so its not going from idle to 4000rpm or anything when I re-engage D.
