Hey everyone, I was wondering how worth while the EAT chip was.
I know it would run around 2-300$
I’ve heard it improves HP (torque), MPG, and throttle response
if anyone’s got a site with the official figures
thanks a lot everyone!

It's been awhile, but I remember figuring that a one mile per gallon increase in fuel efficiency would pay for the price of the chip with fuel savings in one year.

I dont think Mark has any of the chips dyno figures yet, from what I have read over the years it is a dramatic improvement all around from a smoother idle better power and mileage.

And that's only because most chips were developed BEFORE the dyno was calibrated. You can expect 5 to 8% more torque (and hp) from around 2500 rpm to the original rev. limiter.

I was out delivering a chip, I'll read it now. :)
By the way, all chips on my site (and through the dealers) will be increasing by 15% in the next few days. I had planned to increase it for June 1 but didn't get to it yet.
The price on the direct ling from this site will also increase 15%.

EAT is great... and Dinan is giving 50% off their software all summer long

yeah, it's a 50% mail in rebate. I dont do mail in rebates. Dinan can kiss the fattest part of my ass on this one.
I've done about 200 mail-in rebates over the past four years... from Dell to a toothbrush...
I'm just looking for more value... not worried about having my ass kissed

Dinan is giving 50% off their software all summer long
so that means Dinan will only be twice as expensive now?
Incantation

try searching the forums
don't they teach percentages in ivy league schools?

Um, I think he means twice as expensive as an EAT chip.
And as to the original topic, there are a bunch of threads on this forum about peoples experiences with the EAT and other chips, just do a search.

mail in rebates suck, last one sent me another form to fill out with upc codes and box tops and crap from the prior 6 mos...like i keep that **** forever.
rebates are BS
inside joke...
in any case, this makes dinan chips cheaper than everyone except the ebay resistor chips

You can read up on all of the 'offical figures', and numbers you want, but they pale in comparison to the 'seat of the pants' difference you will notice with one of Marks' (EAT) chips. What other $200 mod can you think of, that will give you 20-25 honest HP increase, while giving you a mile or two per gallon increase in economy? Your car will feel like a whole new car.
Its the best bang for the buck you can do. If you dont have an EAT chip yet, get one. You will not be dissapointed.

best buy you can make. had mine for almost two years. no issues, just better performance.
Have had EAT chip for over 2 years and 50,000 miles, it is the best! Still amazing and puts a smile on my face every time I drive my car.

Mark,
Ditto that question. '95 540iA, 6/95 production date. Had trouble figuring that out on your site.
Thank you!

BTW, slightly off the e34 topic,
anything for e46 330?!!
it could be a huuuuge market.
I have heard the software out there is not that big of an improvement...?!

Hello there! I have the EAT chip in my 535iA and noticed a nice difference. Sort of like losing 2 or 3 adult riders from your car, about 2mpg better mileage and seems to run smoother as well. Really seemed to wake up the car. Just do it!

Mark, which one will be the chip for a 95 540i auto?
Can you post either the build date or last 7 digits of the VIN?
Although I have made chips for the cars made after 11/94, I need to read the stock chip to get the EWS codes. One day I'll make a version that will work in any EWS-II equiped car.

Your car was made in 9/95 so it has EWS and the DME would be a 0 261 203 484
I need to read the stock chip. I'll contact you as soon as the EPROM programmer I send to people who need their chip read is available.

well there is a chip I can make, but I need to read your chip first. Or wait a month or so and I'll make a gerneric version for the 95 540.
(meaning no need to read the EWS codes)

How would you read my chip?
Just let me know.. or I can wait a month..
"Generic Version" by no means I will get generic power gain right?

I need to read the chip in an EPROM programmer. I had one in the USA but it seems someone sent it to someone else without a tracking number and it got lost.
"Generic" in this sense means I would make it work in any EWS-II car without reading the EWS codes which are unique to each chip.
