Oil for hot climate

I am currently using 0w-40, climate during winter is very cold, last winter it went down to -40C (-40F, during night), and very hot in summer. So far the highest temp I saw was +42C (107F).
The questions is; is the Mobil1 0w-40 suitable for me? For the hot climate that I live in?

bullhead city, I last year saw 118F here 47.7 C
I have run 5w30 mobil one, 5w30 bmw synthetic which is castrol 5w30 and 15w50 mobil one, and 0w40 mobil one is what i'm currently running. I have had no problems at all with any of these oils in this climate. You will have no problem running 0w40 in your climate.

where today it is 110 deg. F, my mechanic always uses 20W-50, especially in the summer time.

I got the Castrol GTX 5-Gallon jugs at WallyWorld (Walmart) for about $7.85 ea. I've been using nothing but for the last 5 years, changing it every 4k, and the engine is in great shape. My mechanic used Mobil brand, but I had some trouble finding it in 20W50. For the normal warm climate that I'm used to, it was well within the oil spec. chart in the back of the BMW manual.

I live in the Southern Highlands of NSW, south of Sydney, where winter temps at night get to -5 C and summer days can get to +45 C.
I run Mobil 1 0W-40 in my E34, Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 in my diesel ML 270 CDI and Mobil 1 Delvac 5W-40 in my diesel F250. All full synthetics.
Everyone I have spoken top says a top value of W-40 is fine for these summer temps.

I'm running the new RedLine 5W40 in the M and it seems to use less than it did with RedLine 10W40. Highest ambients I ever see are around 38-40C.

Any time I've used 15W50 or 20W50 in this or other BMWs it made a significant difference in output power according to the butt-o-meter. Ran Mobil 1 5W30 in an '88 325iS for over 200,000kms with no problems - all weather.

redline 5w40 is actually a bit thinner than 10W40 at hot, and not much thinner at ambient either. the only reason i can fathom that it would use more oil is if you have a leaky gasket somewhere, or if you were using the 5W40 after the 10W40, the engine was cleaner and the moly coated the metal, which would lower consumption.

Ummm, if I had a leak, thinner oil would leak more so I'd expect to use more, not less. Engine cleanliness is not an issue as it's been on a steady diet of synthetics for most of its adult life. And yes, all M5s leak oil (well, maybe not Jr's, it wouldn't dare:) ) - it's part of an undercarriage corrosion protection plan. Doesn't work on the doors though.

g'day, just wondering does your mercedes manual have a page on drain intervals vs. mercedes benz oil specs? because i have a merc benz "Excerpt Specification for operating fluids release 05/2005 supplement 15" book. we also have a diesel engine manual for a merc diesel which has different oil change intervals for different spec sheet oils.
