View Full Version : E39 16" wheels on E34

Has anyone tried fitting an E34 with the E39 16" style 29 wheels? are spacers or anything needed to make them work? cannot find info on what the offset is on the E39 wheels. Trying to upgrade without too much hassle and found nice set on ebay.

They will fit, but you will need hubcentric rings found on tirerack.com

off set is the same but as SC Dvid says you need 74-72.5 rings

They fit just fine with the rings. The plastic rings are supposed to be the best.

are those the e39 style 29 wheels on your 5? I really like the wheel, but was cautious about how they would look on the e34. Yours look nice. I don't like after market wheels, would like to stay with original BMW wheels. thanks for the reply.

where did you get your rings? tirerack? do they have the plastice ones?

They are 16" e39 style 29s. I have the crappy rings from wheels and caps on eBay. Dont have any vibration issues though. Not sure where you should go for the plastic ones.

where did you get your rings? tirerack? do they have the plastice ones?
TireRack sells the aluminum hub-centric rings (part # A670)..and you have to call & order from a customer service rep...I've never been able to find them on the web site:

Interesting that some like the plastic ones better...though you need to be careful with both...I prefer the aluminum rings...just gotta make sure you don't bend or crush them (they are made of aluminum...not steel ;) )

When I ordered from tirerack, I got plastic ones...I did have to call to order.

Thanks for all the feedback. Found a set of the 16" style 29 wheels with good tread left on the tires. already ordered the rings from tire rack. Anxious to get them on and post a picture of my upgraded E34.
