door bracing, kind of a nice i beam looking thing, looks pretty stout. and the
cheesy window regulators that break all the time that everybody is using now, such as bmw, merc, honda, toyota, nissan ... bicycle brake cable and nylon rollers... garbage

I agree, the e34s have a big thick metal bar running across the door for reinforcement.

I'm not looking forward do doing window regulators in my e46, but since the car just recently came out of warranty before I bought it, alot of common e46 stuff has already been replaced, so I really can't complain.....yet.

and 2001 model right now. At least for the bmw they are fairly cheap and easy to change.

My wife has until 2/07 and 10k more miles of regular warranty on her 2003, and it's CPO'd. They've already replaced the door weatherstripping and the locks.

Now if that were a car from the Midwest Bill, you could have looked down inside that door and caught your first glimpse of rust....:D
Scott, just plan on stocking up, maybe a group buy with George Mann..:) the neighbors '02 325 has had 2 replaced already.

i've gotten e46s in to resell that before we could get the car sold and out of the shop we ended up replacing all 4 regulators one by one, "garbage" is putting it lightly

cpo except the deductible is close to the cost of the regulator and you never know what the guy changing it is going to screw up...:)

That door has a small rattle in it now. I'm tempted to bring it back....but then the vicious cycle begins
