Don't power up a car with any of the SRS components disconnected! I knew this already but wasn't thinking or maybe it was those Heinekens, anyway I did it and now have the SRS light hollering DUMBASS at me.
Has anyone got the method to reset this thing? Last time I greased the palm of a mechanic at the local dealer. I would rather do it myself.

from what I heard it mostly a dealer reset unless you find an indy that has the reset tool.

I think you can get the reset tool off ebay for 100 bux but i dont know which one.

Thanks Jeff. Thats what I was afraid of. A buddy of mine has a reset tool but I don't think it does SRS. I'll see him Tuesday, hopefully he saved the directions for it so I'll know what it can do. I think it's the one from Bav. Auto.
Thanks for not laughing. Or did you?

Same problem here Ross.... :( And I was so excited once I turned off the car and spent hours re-connecting the "accidently spliced" SRS wires.... yea, the light was still on. :( Going to get the clock spring replaced tomorrow anyways, so I'll have VAC reset mine.

The Peake tool might work since they claim it is for 1994-2002 models. Here's another SRS reset tool that claims to work for 88 & newer models:

A bit pricey at $155 but 1 or 2 trips to the dealer to have them do it would pay for itself.

Any interest on the board for collectively buying seldom-used "loaner tools" that the entire forum could share? We'd have to come up with a means to collect a deposit unless everyone bought into the honor system.

I'll report back after Tuesday if my friends tool from Bav. Auto works for this.

FYI Peake tool R5/fcx from Bav. Auto will NOT reset the SRS.
